Infragistics buys up SouthLabs: creator of SharePoint app, SharePlus

SharePlus, the app which is compatible with a range of mobile devices including the iPhones, Android and Blackberry – and which was recently named by Computerworlduk.com as one its ‘25 useful iPad business apps’ – has become the property of specialist software company, Infragistics, following the latter’s acquisition of SharePlus developer, SouthLabs.

Infragistics has indicated that SharePlus is considered a valuable asset for the organisation and will be made even more accessible to businesses under the new ownership.

Dean Guida, Chief Executive Officer of Infragistics, emphasised that against a background of tablets and other portable devices being deployed among corporate staff ‘in rapidly increasing numbers’, SharePlus ‘addresses a gap in the market’ in terms of enabling SharePoint to be accessed by mobile workers.

Guida said that “the innovations of the SouthLabs team and the scale and reach of Infragistics’ sales and services organisation allow us to deliver exceptional value and productivity to our enterprise customers”.

SharePlus is currently available in three versions: SharePlus Lite, which is a free read-only version; and SharePlus Pro, a more sophisticated app which enables the user to contribute to SharePoint documents, and which benefits from password security; and SharePlus Enterprise, an even more sophisticated and ultra-secure app with the added benefit of top level support.

“Intelligence is going mobile and the environment for mobile SharePoint is in its infancy”, Guida said.

At Web Media 360 we will of course be following with great interest the contribution Infragistics makes to the expanding mobile SharePoint market.
